The Mighty Ra are
Andy Edwards - Guitar, vocals, keys, percussion.
Dave Rowe - Bass, vocals.
Rob Griffiths - Drums, percussion.
Rob Wilsher - Keyboards.
Hailing from Wales, the land of castles and dragons, All Secrets Known is the debut album from The Mighty Ra and there is prog pedigree in the band, Andy was the vocal and guitar in Ezra, releasing three albums and regulars at the Classic Rock Society gigs. Andy also performed and recorded with The Fyreworks and appears on albums by Cyan and Last Flight To Pluto.
Rob Wilsher is a founding member of Multi Story and guests on other notable prog albums.
Completing the line-up is the solid rhythm section of Dave Rowe and Rob Griffiths, Dave has shared the stage with some major rock acts and Rob also brings a wealth of musical knowledge from years of live and studio performances.
Andy: “Getting together with such great musicians inspired me to finish off some ideas I had in the musical vault and also to write new material, it was great to collaborate with like-minded writers and we think the resulting album sounds great, it’s what we would want to listen to and we hope others will agree.”
There is a promo video release for the track Nothing Comes Too Easy to give fans a taste of The Mighty Ra sound, with other video releases planned.
Andy: “The songs are influenced by the records that we grew up listening to, Rush were a big part of our lives and you can hear that in some of the tracks, as were Genesis and Pink Floyd, but we’ve put our own spin on it to create some original tracks that won’t disappoint if you like this genre.”
Recording the album wasn’t without its challenges when you throw into the mix a global pandemic, a broken leg and a relocation of the studio, mostly incurred by our long-suffering engineer Nick Lloyd. Not forgetting the hours lost chasing a buzzing fly around the studio during a vocal session.
Having known and worked with Rob Reed for many years it was an easy decision to take him up on his offer to release All Secrets Known on White Knight Records, for which Rob is co-founder. There are some great acts on the label and they are favourable to the artist, which is rare for a record label, so we are looking forward to working together for this release and others.
Dave: "We're all super excited about the upcoming album release and to get the chance to finally play these songs live. It won't be without its challenges as this is technical stuff with samples and triggers, etc., but we've started rehearsals already and are confident we can pull it off!"
Rob G: "Having played in and recorded with various bands over the years, it's fabulous to be back to my roots - Prog. With this fantastic group of likeminded musicians, I feel we have put together a great album, which is right on the money as a Prog statement. Onwards and upwards."
Rob W: “Very occasionally some guys get together; make music and it feels that it was meant to be….
The Mighty Ra is such an event, buy the album and you’ll see what I mean.”
Andy: “We are looking forward to playing the material live and our first outing is at the Prog For Peart gig in Abingdon, England on July 1st, 2022. It will all be live, no click tracks. It’s going to be a great chance to show off the album.”
